IMF RAW Connect Enters Beta
23 March 2023
Exciting news from ZGuy and the Indigenous Marathon Foundation (IMF)! We have entered the beta stage of a new mobile application for the IMF Running and Walking program (IMF RAW) called IMF RAW Connect.
IMF RAW is a community program that encourages and normalises running and walking within communities all across Australia, with a key focus on Indigenous involvement. With IMF RAW Connect, the IMF can communicate with and help IMF RAW run leaders manage and organise their groups in one place.
Connecting Communities
IMF RAW Connect helps create and encourage a connection amongst all the IMF RAW groups. The platform allows members to showcase their running achievements, encourage each other, share health tips, training programs and more to the greater IMF RAW community all year round.
As Robert De Castella (IMF AO MBE Director) puts it: "The IMF has supported First Nations Australians to make running a normal part of a healthy, active life. The new RAW Connect smart phone app provides a safe, free, and inclusive place for Aboriginal, Torres Strait Island, and non-Indigenous runners and walkers to connect, share stories, be inspired, get advice and training programs, and participate in running and walking events. It's a great thing that will make running even more enjoyable and rewarding."
Data-Driven Impact
IMF RAW Connect also gives the IMF a more centralised view of participation across their activities and events alongside related events such as City2Surf, Melbourne Marathon, Gold Coast Marathon, and more.
This provides the IMF a solid, data-backed way to see the positive impact it has on communities all around Australia.
Key Features
The app lets users join or manage groups, manage group sessions, record data in-app or via third-party applications such as Strava, share photos within the application, and access informational resources embedded in the application.
This project is a great example of how purpose-driven software can make a real difference. We're proud to be working alongside the IMF to help bring their communities closer together through technology.
